thanks to johntayloronline dot com for the lovely pic old news for some, but unbeknownst to others, duran duran are reuniting. not that they ever really went away, mind you, they are just reuniting with the original lineup (john taylor, andy taylor, roger taylor, nick rhodes, and simon le bon). good: best: johntayloronline.com (trusttheprocess.com) ________ raise your hands if you think this is a bad idea? don't get me wrong, i am all for the original members getting back together after 15 years or so. i mean, they were a seminal part of my life. that being said, i would prefer they only got back together for perhaps an album or a tour or both. yes, they are doing that, but it also seems the writing is on the wall that this isn't a one-time deal and that they are getting back together for good. i suppose i should be happy about the prospect, but i am not. i suppose that it all stems from the fact that i have been a avid fan of john taylor's (ex and now current bass player) solo endeavors and have been very into the growth and strides he has made since he left duran duran. to me, going back is like taking a step backwards, not forward. yes, nostalgia is great and all that, but you have to live in the future and not the past. i am selfish. i want john solo. i like him proud and alone, not in the shadows. i like the small venues he plays. i like his accessibility, his humanity. in duran, i fear that will all be gone. so i suppose i am in mourning. *sigh* i am very tired, so this "rant" probably makes little sense. i just needed to get it out there, get it on the record, so to speak. if you want to discuss it with me, just write, i'll listen.
