" Are you sick of always reading reviews of the same bands at the newsstand? There is so much music out there, oftentimes we find ourselves simply perched at the tip of the iceberg. Here is your pick-axe. Break through to the other 90% of the music realm..."

Man or AstroMan? - 1000X

Sometime in the late 60's the legendary surf majordomos the Ventures were abducted by aliens and forced to mate with an unknown entity from a galaxy far, far away.  Children were born, leaving doctors, scientists, and the occasional talk show host all exclaiming: "What is it? Man...or AstroMan?"  Thus a band was born.

Riding on the wave of space-surf sensibilities, Man or AstroMan? continually are a band that never disappoints me.  Only recently beginning to get critical acclaim and press outside the SouthEast, Man or AstroMan? are proving themselves to be a force to be reckoned with.  With their newest release, an EP entitled 1000X (editor's note: release date 1997),  they are continually breaking new personal ground. Adopting a little more of an electronic sound and also exloring the realms of vocals (rare in past releases), this EP is incredibly exciting.

Don't let the "space-surf" label of their music deter you, their music is technically efficient and humorous (one of their past claim-to-fames being that they did the theme song to "Mystery Science Theatre 3000").

Their stage performance is equally thrilling, so if they are even flying through your town, definitely don't miss them.  Besides what other band uses their fan club as a false front for scientific experiementation on humans?
